Azerbaijan Badminton Federation Holds General Assembly


The Azerbaijan Badminton Federation (ABF) recently held its General Assembly, focusing on key developments, achievements, and future strategies. During the meeting, ABF Secretary General Ramil Hajiyev presented the federation’s 2023 activities and outlined plans for the upcoming year.

It was highlighted that Azerbaijani athletes secured 30 international medals in 2023, including eight golds, an increase from the previous year’s 20 medals. Azerbaijan also hosted several international badminton tournaments and the European Badminton Confederation Congress, alongside implementing regional development programs.

Iranian head coach Morteza Validarvi shared insights on the national team’s performance in international competitions and presented a five-year strategy for 2023-2028.

Marketing Department Head Aydan Mammadhasanova discussed referee development initiatives, while former national team member and current coach Orkhan Qalandarov gave a presentation on amateur badminton growth.

During the meeting, Ilaha Amirbekova was elected as a new member of the ABF Board, replacing Mirza Orucov to promote gender equality. Orucov was honored as an honorary board member for his contributions.

ABF President Taleh Ziyadov presented a special commemorative gift to Orucov for his exceptional service and oversaw discussions on IT platform enhancements, athlete ranking systems, and committee functions.

Ilaha Amirbekova, who participated in the assembly, is the Chair of the ESG Committee at the Azerbaijan-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The assembly concluded with an open discussion led by President Taleh Ziyadov, reflecting on achievements over the past two years and setting priorities for the federation’s future development.
